Tekno’s Yawa: Hit or Miss?
Triple MG Act, Tekno has dropped another four word single YAWA produced by Masterkraft. It is accompanied with a video shot somewhere most likely in the United States and directed by Patrick Elis. It showed brief appearances from Eastern King of melody, Flavour N’abania and Chief Obi, hilarious and newest millionaire in town.
With the kind of hype the song received on social media, many expected it to be exceptionally good but it didn’t meet up to the expectations as it lacked in edge and appeal.
Although the beats and instrumentation are on point, the lyrics are semi-meaningful and is a far cry from contemporary music which is widely recognised. This song doesn’t seem to have reached the heights attained and set by previously released numbers like ‘Duro’ and ‘Pana’ which topped the charts for months.
The records YAWA no doubt is pleasing but this is a low turn for a song Tekno has graced based on the standards he set for himself in the last year.
In conclusion, the single was good and enjoyable but not top standards. I do believe Tekno still has a lot more in stock for fans, so let’s wait patiently or “yawa go dey o”.
